What is Fiber Beat? ~~
Fiber Beat is not your regular knitting podcast. In fact, it covers a range of crafts using the fiber medium, such as spinning, weaving, felting, dyeing, shepherding, & crocheting. You can expect interviews with designers, authors, farmers, & businesses. WonderMike, editor-in-chief and intrepid reporter presents instructional video podcasts as well as product reviews. If you have a story, you'd like to share, give WonderMike a shout on Ravelry or leave a comment in the show notes!

Sponsoring Fiber Beat ~~
Fiber Beat is now accepting sponsorship. If you'd like to underwrite the show, please contact WonderMike who can give you rates and options.

Production Assistance ~~
Fiber Beat is a labor of journalistic love that requires considerable preparation, both before and after the actual interview. We use various audio/computer equipment to record, edit and publish each episode of the show. Your donations make this work possible. Thank you very much!!!

Fiber Beat Fundraiser

There's a million crafters in Fiber City and we've all got a yarn to spin.

For this mini-episode we share news of the impending doom of our production machine, the venerable Mac G5. We seized the opportunity for a bit of fun by paying homage to one of our favorite documentarians, the awesome David Attenborough. On a more serious note, we are asking you, our loyal listeners to help us purchase a new production machine. You can make a donation via PayPal by clicking the yellow "DONATE" button in the left sidebar.

In order to show our appreciation of your assistance, we are raffling off several prizes from my personal stash. Here's how it works. If you make a donation of $10 or greater, your name will be entered into the drawing for one of the following items:

  • The 2007 “ Socks that Rock” binder and 6 sock patterns including designs by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee and Cat Bordhi (please note – yarn is not included)
  • Signed copies of the Yarn Harlot’ s books, "Casts Off" and "Meditations for Women Who Knit too Much"
  • Selected fibers for spinning created exclusively for a Verb for Keeping Warm’ s fiber club
  • Rita Buchanan’ s 2 disc DVD set, “ How I Spin”
  • Audio books: "Mason-Dixon Knitting Outside the Lines" 3 CD set and – "The Secret Language of Knitters"

To enter, make a donation of $10 or higher via the PayPal "donate" button. One winner for each of the prizes will be randomly selected from all the entries. DEADLINE FOR DONATING/ENTERING IS November 30, 2010.

WINNER for Fiber Beat CONTEST, Episode No. 11

For Episode #11, we announced a contest for two instructional DVDs from Lucy Neatby, "Intarsia Untangled" (volumes 1 & 2). Our winner was Laurel and her prizes are on their way to WA state. Thanks to everyone who participated and congratulations, Laurel! Special thanks to Lucy Neatby for the generous prizing donation.

A planet-sized thank you to everyone who downloaded and listened to the first EIGHTEEN episodes (audio/video) of Fiber Beat. Let me know what you think and leave a review on iTunes!
