Fiber Beat, Episode 22: "Ravel-ution" featuring Jess & Casey Forbes ![]() There's a million crafters in Fiber City and we've all got a yarn to spin. ![]() This episode of Fiber Beat is made possible with the support of Entangled magazine, our brand new sponsor from New Zealand! Entangled is a new digital only, quarterly fibercraft publication. Issue Two featuring Wool & the Gang, Wooly Wormhead, and Donna Druchunas is out now and available through Zinio I’d like you to stop for a moment and think about your fiber journey, passion, obsession, call it what you will. If you are a relatively new knitter such as me (I started in 2004), it’s hard to remember life Before Ravelry. How did we organize patterns, find errata support, show our finished projects to others & interact with our fellow fiber junkies? The following people, places and things were mentioned:

- Ravelry is indispensable. It is the first and last thing that I look at too. My favorite feature is the data base for yarn and patterns. I love data bases. I can find anything and everything with a few clicks.
Thanks to Jess and Casey for making it possible and thanks to all the contributors that make it a fun place to be. - I really enjoyed this episode. I don't remember how I found Ravelry or who introduced me to it but I know that I tell everyone about how great it is. I think what I like best is the ability to search out patterns, see how they work up in many different yarns and by many different hands. I also use it all the time to look up yarn.
- I don't know how to use most of Ravelry, so it's hard to say. But I have found it very useful to look at other people's projects to see what yarns and colorways they used and how they turned out. That helps me decide what yarn I can use, if not the one the pattern calls for. I also like reading comments on project pages. Some of them are very helpful. Thanks for the contest.
- Awesome episode, loved the interview with Jess & Casey. I adore Ravelry! It seems impossible to choose just one part that is my favorite thing about it, but I guess I would have to say it's the community aspect - of being able to connect with so many others, from around the world, who share my passion for knitting and all things fiber. Ravelry has definitely touched my life - in the best imaginable way.
